Our Beginnings

During their study abroad in 2024, Kinoshita and Nishioka discussed an assignment online. "How can we connect this wonderful learning environment with Akita society?"

"We want to create opportunities in Akita that are commonplace for university students in urban areas. And we want to put that learning into practice within Akita."

The reality is that many AIU students leave the prefecture after graduation. However, we believe that it is not that they "do not want to stay in Akita," but rather that they "have not yet found a reason to stay in Akita."

This is why AIU Cedar Society was established. Through lecture events inviting prominent guests, we aim to provide students with opportunities for learning and networking comparable to those in urban areas, and to connect the inspiration gained from these experiences to practical application in Akita—creating a cycle of "Encounters, Learning, and Practice."

Our Journey

April 2025 - Officially launched as an officially recognized club at Akita International University.

Present - Expanding our activities.

Currently, we regularly hold lecture events, continuing our work as a bridge connecting students and society. It is still a small step, but we will continue to move forward.
